MISTRAL IX- off St Kilda Pier.

Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron is selling the vessel Mistral IX pursuant to an order of the Magistrates Court of Victoria, made 1 June 2023, to recover money due to RMYS by order of the court and for unpaid marina fees and other expenses.

Guy Rex was a colourful and wealthy Tasmanian who is famous for commissioning and racing a series of (usually deep blue coloured) yachts with the name MISTRAL. In 1966 he asked the famous Battery Point boat builder Max Creese to build for him, using Huon Pine, a design by Bill Luders of Stamford Island, Connecticut, USA.

This boat is MISTRAL IX .

You can read about her construction in Nicole Mays’ book “Industrious, Innovative, Altruistic”

The boat will be for private sale via an “expression of interest” process, which runs from 26 June to 26 July 2023. You can view her at RMYS, St Kilda, Victoria, by appointment during this period. See PDF Document below for details.
