The Margaret Pearl Adventure- Part 1, The Idea

Many of you would know of Jim Woods and his magnificently restored Cray Boat The MARGARET PEARL. Next year Jim is planning a serious adventure with his Tasmanian vessel, attending the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart and then taking her north, up the full length of the East Coast of Australia and on to explore the remote islands of the Louisiade Archipelago in eastern Papua New Guinea.

Jim has kindly offered to take us with him on the journey, by producing a series of short reels explaining the concept, the preparation and hopefully the execution of what should be an memorable adventure.

In Part One below, he tells us a little bit about the boat, discusses the options for getting to Hobart, and outlines the next steps for the journey north. Part Two will be out in the nest couple of weeks, and will cover some of the early preparations.

Let us know what you think in the comments below, and also the elements of the journey you want to hear more about!
