The omens were not looking too good a day or two before the Rally.  A fierce thunderstorm went through the area on the Wednesday evening, and a bolt of lightning struck and destroyed three boats in a yard in Paynesville.  Luckily, these were not Rally boats, but even so…

The idea has taken a life of its own! We now have an enthusiastic Committee dedicated to the task, and the Centenarians Rally is mooted as a bi-annual October event, taking turns with the Club's well-established Gaffers Day. An approach to the Australian National Maritime Museum saw them seize the opportunity with both hands.

Whether you are custodian of a much loved family dinghy, have just finished building your first kayak, are restoring a traditional Tassie cray boat, or are mad for sailing among other timber boats, this is your weekend to head down to the beautiful D'Entrecasteaux Channel on, or with, your wooden boat.
